Pastel paintings by Polina Shvedko

"I'm a German artist specializing in pastels, oils, and inks," Polina Shvedko writes, and she speaks of "a lifelong passion for drawing". Her pastels are drawn on pastel paper; nine of the ten works here date from 2023 and 2024.

Flowers are the main subject: hydrangeas in Hortensien and Blossoms in a Blue Pot, a bouquet of wild flowers, forget-me-nots in a glass jar, lilacs and roses. Four of the 2024 flower pieces measure 32 × 23.5 cm and are framed in wood and glass at 50 × 40 cm.

Other pastels show places: a fishing village and its reflections in the water, Hamburg's main railway station under an evening sky, two cyclists on a tree-lined country path, and Winter Magic, a pair of pastel and ink paintings of Göttingen in the holiday season, created for Copernicus GmbH.
